Randall Franks is an actor, producer, director, author, and award-winning journalist, a syndicated newspaper columnist, and an award-winning entertainer.
He serves the Northwest Georgia Joint Development Authority as its film and television liaison; He is formally Georgia Production Partnership Fast Forward Chairman and board secretary, and he currently serves as vice president and on its
government relations committee.
Known as the Appalachian Ambassador of the Fiddle, he is a Grand Ole Opry guest star, an International Bluegrass Music Museum Legend and an Independent Country Music Hall of Fame inductee.
As an actor, he was a regular in three TV series and starred or co-starred in numerous films starring with William Hurt, Mia Wasikowska, Christian Slater, Dolly Parton, Stella Parton and others. He is best known as “Officer Randy Goode” from TV’s “In the Heat of the Night.”
